A Leap of Faith is the second episode of Season 1.
Synopsis
Still trying to process his losses, Stefan learns even more from April about the past ten years and his survival. Brad delivers unpleasant news to Thomas, and he lashes out in a dangerous way. Anita realizes she's wanted for murder and agrees to leave town with Thomas, but the road trip quickly turns into a life and death situation, forcing April to make a bold move to help. Finally, town's sheriff comes to a dangerous realization.

| Stefan was pacing back and forth in the room he was trapped in. Thomas and April were working on some papers their backs turned to him. Although April seemed okay, Thomas seemed annoyed with his footsteps. Eventually..
Thomas: "Do you mind slowing down a bit?" Stefan: "Got a problem?" Thomas: "I know you're deliberately making noise while walking." Stefan: "Well I'm not much of a ninja." Thomas: "You don't have to be a ninja to make less noise!" Stefan: "Sorry, I haven't been using my legs for ten years, must have forgotten how to use them properly!" Thomas: "Didn't seem like you had much trouble killing all those people yesterday!" Stefan: "I'm sensing a little hostility here." Thomas: "A little?" (to April) "Killing him isn't murder, right? Because he's technically dead?" Stefan: "If you wanna do something, bring it on." Thomas: "You mean it?" April: "Both of you, stop!" Thomas: "Are you aware that we're essentially harboring a fugitive?" (April raised her head and looked at him) "If the council knew you were keeping him here.." April: (stood up with a temper) "But they won't, unless someone tells them!" They angrily looked at each other. Stefan broke the silence. Stefan: "Well you won't have to worry about me much longer." April: (looked at him) "What's that supposed to mean?" Stefan: (pointed the window) "Sun's about to set in less than an hour, and when it happens, I'll be out of your hair." Thomas: "Don't worry about it, she's taken care of it." Stefan: "What do you mean?" April: "Well, it's a good thing you mentioned a witch earlier, so I called the only one I know. She'll be here any second and put a boundary spell around the cabin." Thomas: "So the only way you'll get out is to be invited in here." Stefan: (with hope) "Bonnie?" April: "No. I'm afraid Bonnie died too ten years ago. When she was trying to save Jeremy's life, at the expense of her own. She did bring him back, but he's lost his mind since then. So it wasn't much of a rescue. He's been locked inside an asylum all this time. He hasn't gotten any better." Stefan: (held his hair in despair) "Is there anyone who survived?" April: "No. And we're not even sure how you survived. All the original vampires were killed, that should've ended the entire vampire race!" Stefan: "What do you mean all the originals were killed?" April: "Klaus, Rebekah, Elijah.." Stefan: "That's impossible." April: "I saw it happen, Stefan. I tried to save Rebekah's life, because she was my friend. But I was forced to watch them burn." Stefan: "Bonnie once put Klaus inside someone else's body, maybe.." April: "Except this time there was no witch around to do that kind of spell." Stefan: "Then how am I still alive?" April: "I.. I've no idea!"
Brad: "Thomas!" He saw Brad and waited. Soon he came. Thomas: "Hey." Brad: "Hey, um. This morning I woke up, and asked Anita to tell me what she remembers.. about yesterday(?). Do you know what she told me?" (Thomas shook his head, meaning to say "no") "That she doesn't remember." Thomas: "What do you mean she doesn't remember?" Brad: "She just doesn't. She doesn't remember those people being killed, or attempting to steal a truck.." Thomas: "Whoa! Wait, what? Attempting to steal?" Brad: "Her fingerprints were found all over a victim's truck." Thomas: "Oh my god!" Brad: "And her clothes has stains of blood that belong to many victims. That and her not remembering things, raise a lot of suspicions." Thomas: "What're you saying, that she killed all those people?" Brad: "Of course I don't. I know Anita, she would never do such a thing!" (upon this Thomas found himself flashing back to the car park, where April said "She's compelled") "But I know that there are people who've already started pointing fingers." (Thomas started breathing heavily and looked around nervously) "Do you have any idea what might be going on, because at this point I'm totally blank!" Thomas: (wildly looked at Brad) "I'll talk to her today." Brad: (nodded) "Okay." Thomas: "Thanks for telling me this." Brad: "You're her brother. I figured you should know." Then Brad walked away. Thomas kept standing and looking around angrily.
Stefan: "Who's living in my house?" April: (turned to him) "What?" Stefan: "Last night, I went to visit there. But I couldn't walk inside. When I looked through the window, I saw a family, having a dinner. Someone lives in my house and I wanna know who." April: "Why? So that you could go and kill them?" Stefan: "You're saying I have hope getting out of here?" April smiled upon this. Clearly she wasn't expecting this comeback. April: "Actually I did make some research about that house. All I could find out was that it used to belong to Elena Gilbert. Then nine years ago the deeds were given to someone named Victor Delaney." Stefan: "Delaney?" April: "You know that name?" (Stefan shook his head, meaning "no") "That's what I thought." Stefan: "Deed was in Elena's name, after she died, mayor must have held an auction, sold the house to the highest bidder." (April nodded barely) "What about Elena's place?" April: "She burned it down after Jeremy died. Stefan: "Right, I remember." Suddenly the door opened and Thomas came in walking angrily. Thomas: "What did you do to her!?" April turned to Thomas in confusion. April: "Thomas?" Thomas: (quickly went near Stefan and punched his face) "I said what did you do to her!" April: "THOMAS!" Stefan fell with this move he wasn't expecting. Thomas lost himself and started hitting Stefan relentlessly. Thomas: "What did you do to my sister! Tell me!" Suddenly they heard a gunshot. April took a shot to a random point to distract them. And it worked, as Thomas looked at her. But taking advantage of the situation, Stefan punched Thomas' chest. As he gasped for breath, Stefan stood up, turned Thomas, and bit his neck wildly. Because Thomas was between them, April didn't know what to do. But then she shot Stefan's leg. Stefan left Thomas with pain and knelt, revealing his head. April did not miss the chance, and shot him in the head. Stefan dropped dead. April rushed near Thomas and pulled him to her part of the cottage. April: "What the hell was that!?" Thomas: "Do you know what's happening? Because of what he did to my sister, she's now the prime suspect.. of the murders HE committed! He compelled her to get car keys and victims blood is on her clothes and her fingerprints are everywhere!" April: "I get that. But how was hitting him gonna make it all okay?" Thomas: "It wasn't!" April: "Then why'd you do it, what were you thinking!" Thomas: "I wasn't thinking okay, I just had to lash out!" April: "So it's just another macho man crap! Well you need to get over that!" Thomas: "I can't believe you're actually defending that vampire right now!" April: "I'm not defending anyone. I just need him alive until I get some answers!" Thomas: "Answers?" April: "He was part of Klaus' bloodline. If he survived, there might be others too. Whatever it is that saved his life, I have to find out!" Thomas: "No that's not it. I know you well enough to know when you're thinking and saying different things. And you had plenty of time to get your answers, but you didn't. I know what you're up to. You wanna recruit him. A vampire with a feud with Silas, perfect for your crusade." April: (looked at him silently. Then realizing her goal is revealed, she turned her back to him and exhaled) "It didn't start out that way." Thomas: "It doesn't matter. I know you're never gonna kill him. And I'm not okay with it." April: (turned to him) "What do you want me to do, Tom? I've been doing this for almost ten years, and I've gotten nowhere. Stefan is fast, strong. He could be my greatest weapon against Silas." Thomas: "Or you. Did you ever think about that? What if he got into his head and turned him against you? What're you gonna do then?" April: "I can't think about that." Thomas: "I know. But you're gonna have to make a choice, April, whether you like it or not. Him or me." April: (her voice got cracked) "Thomas, don't! Please, you have to understand.." Thomas: "No, you need to understand. That thing you depend on, is a vampire! A blood sucking monster, he's a ripper, April! And if we were a minute late, he was going to kill my sister. I can never get over this. I won't. So if you're hellbent on keeping him around, then I won't be." Then he angrily walked out of the cabin. April remained still in silence with sadness. She was feeling a lump in her throat. Her eyes were watered.
Brad: "Ani, you're home?" Anita: (a faded voice answered) "Here, in the kitchen!" He went to the kitchen with a confused smile. They looked at each other. Brad: "What's the occasion?" Anita: "Occasion? I always cook!" Brad: "Not at home(?)." Anita: "Well, since my restaurant is a crime scene and no one will be there until this is all over, might as well cook for you.." (kissed him) ".. and you alone!" He couldn't help but smile, then quickly looked at the door and looked at her again. Brad: (with a serious voice) "Listen, honey, we need to talk." Anita: (realized he was a bit anxious, she got serious too) "What's going on?" They sat to chairs. Brad: "Look, I need you to be honest with me." Anita: "Always!" Brad: (nodded) "You must tell me everything you remember about yesterday." Anita: (straightened) "I told you, it's blank. Wiped clean!" Brad: "People just don't get their minds wiped clean, Anita!" Anita: "What do you want me to say?" Brad: "Listen. I shouldn't be telling you this, but.. you're the prime suspect." Anita: "Of what?" (Brad couldn't bring himself to say "murders", but she understood quickly) "Are you serious?" Brad: "Your fingerprints were on one of the victim's trucks, and the clothes you washed has stains of blood from various victims." Anita's eyes became full. She was at the brink of crying. Anita: "Th.. That's .. There must be an explanation!" Brad: "People won't look for an explanation, Ani. They're gonna be looking for someone they can point fingers at." Anita: "And that's me!?" Brad: "Look I tried to defend you. I said you were with me all day, no way you could've done that. But I'm a cop and your fiancé. My word doesn't count! And since you don't remember anything about yesterday, how are you gonna defend yourself?" Anita: (looked around in confusion and despair) "So.. So what am I gonna do?" Brad: (hesitantly) "You need to run." Anita: "Run? No!" Brad: "You have no choice!" Anita: (cried) "I didn't do anything!" Brad: "I know that, but no one will believe us!" Anita: "If I run, I'll look even more guilty. No one will believe I'm innocent." Brad: "No one does anyway!" Anita looked at him startled and crying. Her eyes wide open, fear and desperation was much more clear in her eyes. Anita: "They're gonna put me away, aren't they?" Brad: "They won't, I'm not gonna let them." (she looked at him with a sharp move) "I called Thomas, he's on his way. He agreed to leave town with you." Anita: "No!" Brad: "I trust him. April trained him well, he'll be able to keep you safe until I find an explanation to this madness." Anita: (dropped tears) "I can't believe this is happening!" Brad: (held her head gently from her cheeks. He was emotional too) "There has got to be an explanation. And I'll find it. I'll clear your name! And if I can't, I'll find you. I'll disappear with you!" Now both were crying. They kissed each other. Anita: "I love you!" Brad: "I love you too!"
The woman in the car opened the window and looked at April with a smile. April: "Thanks for doing this. I know I was asking a lot." Woman: "One small favor for a friend." April: (smiled) "Don't undersell it. You took a great risk." Woman: "You're welcome!" Then she drove away. After she's gone, April opened the door and entered the cabin. A sudden whoosh sound made her look at Stefan, and she found Stefan holding a stake and looking threateningly. She was quick enough to notice it was one of the couch's legs. Stefan: "That was your witch, wasn't it?" April: "How do you figure?" Stefan: "Well I couldn't leave the cabin when I woke up, so there's that." April: "So what's the plan? Kill me?" Stefan: "Well when I kill you I won't have to be invited in to that part, so I must admit I'm quite tempted." April: "If you kill me, you'll only prove Thomas right." Stefan: "Am I supposed to care about what he thinks of me?" April: "He thinks you're a monster. Gonna prove him right?" Stefan: "Been called a lot of things in my time, monster isn't so bad by comparison." April: "Then what's stopping you?" Stefan: "I'm just giving you a chance to let me go, without anyone getting hurt." April: (looked at him for a while in silence) "Say I did. What then? Gonna find a home, meet a girl, live happily ever after?" Stefan: "I didn't think that much ahead. I spent ten years in a safe, I just wanna get out." April: "You know, Stefan, you and I, we share something. A rage that we cannot control. You know it, just like I do. You have that same look in your eyes that I had ten years ago. That spark, that fire. I'd always recognize it." (Stefan lowered the stake) "You know you'll never be able to live a normal life until you get your revenge. And I wanna help you." Stefan: (smiled ridiculously) "You wanna help me? Why?" April: "Because I still haven't taken my revenge too." Stefan: "From Silas?" (April nodded slowly) "What do you have anything to do with him?" April: "Silas got into my father's head, made him homicidal, suicidal. He made my father stain my family's name." Stefan: (remembered) "The explosion that killed your dad." April: (nodded) "Along with eleven council members. I didn't know it back then, but it was Silas' work. He brainwashed my dad into killing himself." Stefan: "And you wanna avenge him." April: "And clear my family's name." Stefan: (started to understand her) "Is that why you chose this line of work? A paranormal detective." April: (smiled) "Of course that's not the professional term, but, yes. When Rebekah told me the truth about my father, I became a detective and started this agency. I took odd cases, that might've been of supernatural causes. I was hoping to find a lead that could take me to Silas. But it's been ten years, and I'm still right where I started. I could use your help, just like you could use mine." Stefan: "No offense, but I don't think I can use your help against Silas." April: "I'm your best chance against him." Stefan: "Really? Silas can get into everyone's heads, even witches. He can't be killed, because he's a true immortal. That's why I'm his doppelganger, because nature needed a copy of him that could be killed. I'm sorry if I sound distrustful here, but I just can't see how you, a human, are my best chance against him." April: "I've got resources. I know what I'm up against. I'm prepared, I'm trained. And Silas can't get into my head." Stefan: "A witch I know used to say that. But he kept her under his influence for weeks. Even vervain can't block him." April: "My case is different." Stefan: "Humor me." April: "Six years ago I took a case, hoping it'll lead me to Silas. I was too late, but I managed to save a woman's life. She was a witch." Stefan: "Same one you were talking to outside?" April: (nodded) "She doubted at first, but when she believed I was after Silas, she made me this talisman." (took her necklace out of her shirt. It was a round shaped golden medal with various engravings on it) "As long as I'm wearing it, it protects me from all kinds of mind control." Stefan: "Did you ever test it?" April: "No. But I trust her, if she says it'll work, it'll work." Stefan: "That's one hell of a confidence." April: (smiled and put the necklace back into her shirt) "We help each other out. After all it's not an everyday thing to meet someone who wants Silas gone." Stefan: (he smiled barely) "So what is your friend in it for?" April: "Thomas?" Stefan: "Hmm hmm." April: (after a brief silence) "He was in it for me." Stefan: "Was?" April: "We aren't on best terms right now." Stefan understood that he was the reason they fought, so he didn't say anything.
Anita: "I don't like this, Brad!" Brad: "Ani please, this is already hard enough!" Anita: "Why does it have to be this way!?" Brad: "Because this is the only way!" Anita: "What's gonna happen to you when they realize you let me go?" Brad: "Your dad will do me a favor, I'm his son in law after all." Anita: "Future son in law." Brad: "Right." (they looked at each other) "I'll be okay." Anita: (sniffed) "You're a terrible liar!" They both laughed for a second. Then Brad kissed her forehead. They kissed once more. Thomas: (after they finished kissing) "I'll take good care of her." Brad: "I know." (to Anita) "Be safe!" Anita tried to smile. Then they left each other's hands. She got into the car next to Thomas. Thomas and Brad nodded to each other. Then Thomas got into the car and started driving. They were on an empty road, most likely close to the town's border. Anita was quietly looking out of the window, clearly feeling incredibly helpless. Thomas noticed this. Thomas: "Hey." Anita: (without looking at him) "Hmm?" Thomas: "Things are gonna work out. I know it." Anita: "I don't know, Tom." Thomas: "What do you mean?" Anita: "Brad was right. People don't just get their minds wiped clean. Something's happened to me, and I have no idea what." (a brief silence happened) "Maybe I really did kill all those people." Thomas: "No you didn't! Don't think that for a second!" Anita: "Yeah? How do you know?" (Thomas looked to the road. He was struggling about telling her the truth. But then decided not to) "I have no alibi, no memory.." (suddenly she turned to Thomas with a quick thought) "Maybe we should go to April!" Thomas: "Why?" Anita: "Well, she's known to take odd cases by choice. And I.. I think this qualifies!" Thomas: "You're forgetting that I'm working for her? She knows, she's working on it." (looked at her) "We're all doing everything we can. We're not letting you go down for someone else's crime." She looked at her with a hopeful smile. Then looked at the road. As soon as she looked, she got alarmed and yelled. Anita: "THOMAS!!" Thomas immediately hit the brakes without even looking. Car screeched for a while and made a sudden stop. Only then he noticed that there was a police blockade at the town's exit. After the car stopped, one of the cops spoke to the speaker. Police: "This is Mystic Falls Police Department. Get out of the car and put your hands in the air!" (Anita and Thomas looked at each other in panic. When the inertia took too long, cop spoke again) "I repeat, get out of your vehicle, and put your hands in the air!" It didn't take longer than a few seconds for Thomas to make up his mind. After quickly checking the rear mirror, he spoke quietly. Thomas: "Ani, fasten your seat belt." Anita: (looked weirdly) "What're you gonna do?" Thomas: "There's more than one way out of this town!" Anita: (understood what he was planning) "No! I'm not gonna let anyone else get into trouble because of me. I'll turn myself in!" (she reached to the door, but Thomas was quicker to lock them. She oddly looked at him) "Thomas!? Open the door!" Another cop: (to another one next to him) "They're not going for it." Suddenly Thomas shifted to reverse gear and drove the car backwards. Cop: "Shit!" Another: "To your cars!" Thomas made a half spin to turn the car back, and started driving as fast as he could. Cops were almost as quick to start the pursuit. Police: "This is Unit 9. We're pursuing the suspects at the north exit. We request back up! I repeat, we request back up at the north exit!" Radio: "Copy that. Four units are headed to your position. Continue the pursuit, whatever you do, do not lose the suspects!"
Going down the hill among the trees, the car gained dangerous speed. It didn't take long until Thomas lost control. First they lost a side mirror, then they hit their one side to a tree. The impact made the car turn on it's side, and they rolled for a while. But they were lucky enough to hit another tree and stop before they were seriously injured. Still, after the car stopped, it started going downhill again. But this time they hit a tree right away and didn't go anymore. Both Anita and Thomas were bleeding. They moaned in pain. Thomas: "Are you okay?" Anita: (tried to keep her eyes open) "Everything is spinning!" He opened the door and got out. He wasn't in a great shape either, but he knew they had to keep going. He went near Anita and opened the door for her. It was jammed, so it took some effort. After they both got out, they noticed the flashlights headed towards them. Feeling helpless, he took his phone from his pocket and called April.
Stefan: "So you two were dating in high school?" April: (nodded) "Hmm hmm. After graduation, I tried to end things because I wanted to avenge my dad. I didn't want him to risk his life because of my crusade. But he wouldn't have it. He pushed and pushed until I agreed to involve him." Stefan: "Did he know about the supernatural?" April: "He comes from a founding family." Stefan: "So does Anita, but she doesn't seem to have a clue despite she's the older sibling." April: "I guess after vampires were gone, there just wasn't any reason to involve anyone else." Suddenly the office phone started ringing. She and Stefan looked at it for a while, then April answered it. April: "April Young." Thomas: "April, it's me!" April: "Thomas?" Thomas: "I'm in a bit of a trouble, I need help!" April: (got serious immediately) "What's going on, where are you?" Thomas: "At the forest near the north exit." April: "What the hell're you doing there?" Thomas: "Cops were coming for my sister, I had to get her out of town! But I had an accident, car's totaled." April: "Thomas!" Thomas: "I couldn't let her go down for a crime she didn't commit! April, please!" April: (in panic) "I can't get involved! I work with the council, if they see me helping you.." Stefan: (interrupted) "I can get involved!" April looked at Stefan. April: (to Thomas) "Let me get back to you!" (then closed the phone) Stefan: "I could get there faster." April: "Stefan, you can't kill anyone." Stefan: "Well I haven't been feeding properly for ten years, so I can't make promises." April: "I'm serious! The council thinks vampires are dead, and I think we both wanna keep it that way. One wrong move out there, they'll know!" Stefan saw her point and he got serious too. Stefan: "I'll be careful." April: "I'm with you, Stefan! I want Silas gone just as bad as you do! Please remember that!" (Stefan looked at her for a while, then nodded. April spoke after a brief hesitation) "I invite you in!" Stefan quickly checked if he could enter. After he realized he could, he ran out with his vampire speed. April looked behind him.
Thomas: "Ani, we have to keep going!" Anita: (panting) "I can't! I need a minute." Upon this Thomas decided to rest for a minute as well. But without their noticing, a police had found them. Without making a noise, he draw his gun and aimed towards them. Suddenly he pulled the trigger. But when he looked, both targets had disappeared. Other cops who heard the gunshot was alarmed. Cop: "What was that?" Another one: "All units, report in!" Cop who fired: "This is Jack, it was me. I think I found the suspects, I took a shot. I might have missed, I'm gonna check it out." Cop: "Understood." Meanwhile, Thomas and Anita were laying on the ground, and Stefan was in front of them. It seems he was just in time to save them. Thomas: (in anger) "How the hell did you get out!?" Stefan: "It doesn't matter." Thomas: "What did you do to April!?" Stefan: "Nothing, she let me out when you said you were in danger." Thomas: "I don't believe this!" Anita: "Thomas, what's going on?" Stefan: "You need to get your sister out of the forest." Thomas: "That's what I'm trying to do." Stefan: "Okay. You keep moving, I'll take care of the cops." Then he stood up and disappeared into the forest. Anita: "Who was that man?" Thomas: "Don't worry about it. Come on, let's go." Anita: "Don't worry about it?" Thomas: "Look, he can take care of himself. Okay?" Anita: "What if he can't?" Thomas: "Then good riddance!" Anita: "Thomas!" Thomas: "Look, he'll be fine. He's basically a killing machine." Upon this she hesitantly took his hand and they started running again. The cop that fired saw them. He quickly aimed his gun, but before he could fire, he noticed someone was coming to him very fast. He couldn't even react in time, and Stefan compelled him. Stefan: "Aside from you, how many cops are there in the forest?" Cop: (in a weird trance) "Eleven, as far I know." Stefan: "Now go the other way, and forget you ever saw me." Cop nodded and started walking to somewhere into the forest. After he's gone, Stefan went towards some sounds. He found a cop hanging alone. The cop heard woods cracking, but before he could turn, Stefan closed his mouth with one hand and choked him with the other. Starting to lose consciousness, the cop quickly pulled his gun and took three shots in the air. A cop at someplace else: "Three shots! That's means help!" Meanwhile the cop couldn't stay conscious anymore, and started to black out. After he fainted, Stefan left him and ran towards a duo that was close. He pulled one to a direction, and the other to the opposite direction. One of those cops he threw hit a tree near another duo and fell unconscious. In panic, they started shooting relentlessly to the bushes. But suddenly someone fell on top of him from the tree. A brief fist fight with the other ended when Stefan hit him with his head. He saw another cop at a distance. He ran to and crashed him with his vampire speed. As he flew to a tree and passed out right away, a cop near him that Stefan didn't see, shot Stefan in the leg and stomach a few times. Stefan groaned and fell on his knees, but he was still strong enough to twist the cop's arm to make him aim at his own head. Then he made him pull the trigger. The cop died immediately. Then Stefan got up. As soon as he did, he and another cop saw each other. He took two shots, but Stefan dodged them all without seeming vampiric. Still, his speed was enough to scare the cop and he started running in panic. Stefan took a minute to take the bullets out of his chest, then followed with vampire speed. But when he reached him, it was too late. He'd already reached the remaining three cops, who were waiting near the cars. Cop: "Sargent! There's a.." Suddenly Stefan came and hit the police on the back of his neck with his two hands. The cop fell unconscious as the rest pulled their guns out. But Stefan was fast enough to kick the one in the middle. As he hit the police car behind and fainted, it distracted the rest long enough to let Stefan make his move. He kicked one of the cops and slammed the other onto a police car. Then punched his head to take him out too. He quickly turned to the one he kicked. But he had stood up, and the moment he faced him, he started shooting him. Stefan tried to resist the pain, but the more he kept going, the more he shot. Stefan would almost give up, but he felt a sudden rage empowering him, and attacked the police while growling and showing his vampire veins and fangs. He forced the cop to lay on the car's hood while choking him. He put his face dangerously close to the cop's neck. Clearly he was struggling big time about feeding on him. The struggle continued for a while. The cop was freaking out, but was also struggling for a breath. Fortunately Stefan managed to resist his urges. His veins and fangs disappeared. Then compelled the cop for something, probably to forget that he saw him. Then he punched his face to take him out too. After all of the cops were taken care of, he looked around for a while. Then disappeared with vampire speed before more showed up.
Sheriff: "So you're all saying that one man, single handedly took out twelve well trained policemen." A cop: "I know this is crazy, but the guy was everywhere. And he was insanely strong!" Sheriff: "Did anyone managed to see this guy's face?" (no one replied. Then sheriff noticed something. There were shells around, and one of the cops, the one Stefan almost bit, had a bit of a red neck due to Stefan's intense squeeze) "What about you? There are shells around, so someone must have fired their weapons." The cop: "I.. I don't.. remember shooting." Sheriff looked away madly.
April: "How is she?" Thomas: "Little shaken up, but she's.. showering it off." April: (smiled) "That's good." Thomas: "How come you involved Stefan?" April: "I didn't really think it through. When he overheard you needed help, he volunteered. Said he could get there fast." Thomas: "And you trusted him?" April: "I took a leap of faith." Thomas: "You gambled." April: "Yeah." Thomas: "I gotta admit, he was the last person I would expect help from. But he surprised me today." April: "He's always been one of the good guys." Thomas: (chuckled) "A good vampire? That's something you don't hear everyday!" April: (smiled) "Trust me, it was just as hard for me to wrap my head around it." Thomas: "You know I'm never forgiving him. We're in this mess because of him." April: "I know." Thomas: "So is he there with you now?" April: "No, he's not. And since you've been saved for hours, I can only guess what he's not planning." Thomas: "I'm sorry." April: "Don't be." Thomas: "You let him out because of me." April: "Nothing matters as long as you're safe." Thomas: "Careful Young, I just might think you're starting to like me again!" April smiled cheerfully upon this. April: "Where are you now?" Thomas: "I'd.. better not tell." April: "Right.." (a brief silence took place) "Look at you! Your first mission, and you're all by yourself! How does that feel?" Thomas: "I had a really good teacher." April: "You were my best student!" Thomas: "I was your only student!" April: (shook her head and smiled with disapproval) "Take a compliment, man!" (upon this Thomas laughed softly. Then April noticed sheriff walking into the cabin. She quickly got serious) "Hey I gotta go." Thomas: "Okay, good night." April: "Night." (she quickly closed the phone and looked at sheriff) "Sheriff?" Sheriff: "Miss Young, we need to talk." April: "Sure, what's going on?" Sheriff: "Tonight, a dozen of my policemen were chasing a suspect. When they got pretty close, something hit them hard, but they have no idea what it was." April: "And you want me to look into it." Sheriff: "You're not hearing me. They don't even remember that something hit them." April: "That's weird." Sheriff: "Not at all. Now you've been paid by the Secret Council for the last decade to keep the town safe from supernatural threats. So I would assume this makes you quite experienced and knowledgeable at these sort of things, right?" April: (not sure where he's getting at) "That's.. true." Sheriff: "Two nights ago a young couple was found decimated. And then people started to forget things. So tell me, Miss Young, what does that sound like to you?" April: (realizing what he means, she felt cornered. She smiled in panic) "I know what you're thinking! But I have strong reasons to believe th.." Sheriff: (interrupted her) "What you believe is not relevant, Miss Young. There are facts and history that I can't ignore. I must report this to the council." (they looked at each other for a while in silence) "Vampires have returned to Mystic Falls!" April looked at sheriff helplessly. ~STEFAN'S DIARIES~ |
